We meet at the entrance to the Okere Falls subtropical rainforest. Here we will identify some of the most researched native New Zealand herbs growing in their natural environment, internationally recognised for their powerful medicinal properties (Manuka, Kawakawa, Kanuka). Once we have identified the herbs we will head back to the workshop. Each person will have an individual workstation to manufacture their beautiful products. We will discuss the medicinal actions of each plant, what phytochemicals the plants carry and what conditions are suitable for use.
At the end of this workshop you will know how to identify three popular native herbs, manuka, kawakawa, kanuka, understand the plant chemicals and why the herbs work for certain conditions, how to make these herbs into healing balms and liquid extracts which you can use all year around for improved health. You will walk away with a clearer understanding of why herbal medicine is so special and widely used.
